As expansion packs go, Baltic Shimmers is pretty on-message with its brief. The use of organic sampled material that has been treated to a number of colourful effect and tape-based enhancements results in a collection of drones and pads that are big on detail and interest. As an overall colour, the package feels dark but, with experimentation, while residing alongside the rest of the excellent Omnisphere content, its patches could easily be adapted for other causes and colours. It has a distinct natural feel and flavour, and provides plenty of slowly evolving pads without the more pulsating elements that Omnisphere is recognised for.

I'm using a brand new Macbook Pro, bought like a month ago, especially for the use of Mainstage in live performances. It has 2.6GHz Dual Core Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, and an SSD hard drive. This computer's supposed to be a very strong workstation, reliable enough for live performances, so I can't figure out the reason for those performance issues. I'm not overusing it, and my patches are very simple, I use only 1-2 instruments per patch.
SpaceDesigner is indeed quite demanding, but should be OK - it is even used a lot in the factory patches. Spikes when opening a plugin are normal, because the system typically does a lot of things at that point.
Along with the hundreds of patches based on the 36 instrument models, Keyscape includes special hybrid "Duo" sounds, which combine two of the instruments to create something entirely new. The unique timbre of these Duo patches make them some of the most creative and inspiring sounds in Keyscape!
